Geothermal plant design and installation and TRT

Getting the design of a geothermal plant right is critically important for its operation and the surrounding environment. At Eneren, we manage the design phase with the help of specialised technicians and dedicated software.
Introduction

GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS: THE RIGHT SOLUTION

Contributing to environmental sustainability makes us proud of our work.

A geothermal plant is the result of a project that we like to imagine as a path towards a new goal: a turnkey plant that meets your comfort needs and is able to make the best use of renewable resources, in full compliance with environment protection guidelines.
Read all about the four steps to make it happen.

Our analyses are based on the use of latest generation software for dynamic simulation and correct sizing of the geo-exchange field.

First step

Use of pilot geothermal probes for the experimental measurement of soil characteristics.

Second step

Use of Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation software for the evaluation of the operating parameters of the ground.

Third step

Correct sizing of the system for full compliance with financial and environmental efficiency.

Fourth step

Study of the viability of creating an energetically integrated system, which jointly uses several energy sources, in order to maximise efficiency.

Process

The design phase is therefore the time when we carry out all the geognostic and hydrogeological surveys necessary to verify the feasibility of the application and to optimise the investment.

Sizing is done to establish the correct dimensions of the geo-exchange field. It is always carried out in compliance with currently applicable legislation and according to the local regulations in force.

Method

The Thermal Response Test (TRT) is carried out to verify the thermal response of the soil and the performance of the geothermal probes. By means of a pilot probe, the average thermal conductivity value of the subsoil is obtained and the geo-exchange probe field necessary for air conditioning is dimensioned accordingly.

After dimensioning the field, we check the hydrogeological sustainability of the plant. This step is necessary to rule out extreme fluctuations of subsoil temperatures and to ensure that the system remains efficient even in the event of changes in thermal conditions.

All the data collected during the test phase are verified and related to the ASHRAE and UNI regulations – the go-to standards for correct value analysis and for simulation of the dynamic operation of the air conditioning system according to the requirements of the building.
