OLM Nature Escape is an example of eco-sustainable excellence located in the stunning natural setting of Campo Tures, South Tyrol, which has chosen Eneren as its technology partner. This innovative Eco Aparthotel includes 33 residential units arranged in a circular area with a diameter of 110 meters, designed to harmonize with the surrounding environment.
Completely energy autonomous, OLM Nature Escape represents a revolution in the hospitality sector, utilizing bio-architecture principles and local natural materials.
Inaugurated on December 1, 2023, OLM Nature Escape has already received the prestigious GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) certification, recognition that underlines its commitment to strict sustainability standards.
The technological heart of OLM Nature Escape consists of an advanced generation system based on three powerful Eneren geothermal heat pumps from the ENW, each with a capacity of 250 kW. These fully reversible heat pumps can produce both hot and cold water for the hotel’s climate control system. Equipped with multiscroll technologies, electronic expansion valves, oversized plate heat exchangers, and water flow modulation, the ENW guarantee optimal efficiency in every operating condition, even at partial loads.
A distinctive feature of the system is the desuperheater, a component that allows the production of domestic hot water (DHW) at very high temperatures simultaneously with the production of heating and cooling.
Additionally, to guarantee a continuous and sufficient supply of DHW, the system includes an additional 80 kW EKW heat pump that acts as a booster. This device takes hot water from the intermediate accumulators used for climate control and heats it up to 80°C without the need for auxiliary electric resistances, increasing the system’s energy efficiency.
The ENW heat pumps work in parallel on a geothermal field composed of 127 geothermal probes, each 100 meters deep. These probes are grouped into 10 geothermal collectors, each connecting between 10 and 15 probes. This complex system is designed to ensure maximum energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact and has been examined together with Eneren from the initial consultation through to design, installation and maintenance.
The design of the geothermal field included the execution of Ground Response Tests (GRT) to verify the soil’s ability to dissipate the heat generated by the heat pumps. These tests measure the thermal conductivity of the soil and its ability to dispose of heat, ensuring that the geothermal field’s sizing is accurate and that the system operates efficiently. Eneren conducted the GRT, demonstrating complete mastery of the technology and a collaborative approach, providing the company with the equipment for further independent analysis.
OLM Nature Escape chose this advanced and sustainable system not only for its high performance but also for the convenience of having a single point of contact for heat generation and geothermal technology. Eneren was able to meet every client’s request, providing innovative technological solutions such as reversible heat pumps with desuperheaters and the booster system, as well as ensuring adequate training for the technical staff involved.
Eneren’s advanced solutions played a crucial role in enhancing OLM Nature Escape’s offerings, making it an example of architectural excellence and environmental sustainability. Thanks to the innovative geothermal heat pump system and cutting-edge technologies, the hotel is able to offer a unique living experience, where luxury merges with respect for the environment. These technological advancements have created a perfect retreat for those seeking comfort and sustainability in an extraordinary natural setting, emphasizing OLM Nature Escape’s commitment to a greener future.
