Geothermal system for complete air cooling of the building

Environmental sustainability is the basis of food security

EFSA chose to cool its new headquarters with a system of the highest level of efficiency and eco-sustainability; geothermal energy was the ideal solution to its needs because it is a key building block for the sustainable development of the area.

Pure water as a heat transfer fluid

The system consists of 80 geothermal probes installed at a depth of 100 m. Pure water was chosen as the heat transfer fluid, which maximizes environmental friendliness and energy efficiency due to the absence of glycol.

The client’s request

In complete consistency with its ideologies, the European Food Safety Authority requested that its new headquarters also be completely green and air-conditioned by a system that is both innovative and sustainable.

Our solution

A complete system for maximum efficiency

The need of the European Institution has been fully met through the installation of a geothermal and heat pump system with state-of-the-art technologies: 80 glycol-free 100 m probes, total recovery heat pumps, system terminals, and high-precision hydronic refrigeration units for the IT room. A complete system in which the geo-exchange field works with temperatures very close to those of the ground ensuring high heat pump efficiencies.

A true example of green awareness

EFSA has chosen all-round sustainability with a plant that maximizes energy efficiency and environmental friendliness-a true example of pursuing the road to a better world for us and future generations.
